An Alta vacation is so much more than just skiing and sleeping. Thankfully, in Alta, we have a few great community partners that help to complete the experience allowing us to focus on what we do best – providing you with comfortable lodging and creative culinary delights just steps from the greatest snow on earth. This year, we are introducing you to a few partners we couldn’t live without.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ezralea from Goldminer’s Daughter Spa.
You might say skiing and spa’ing are two very accommodating activities. We’d probably agree with you. Thankfully, Ezralea and team at the in-house Goldminer’s Daughter Spa are waiting to soothe your tired muscles, hydrate your dry skin and perhaps even help with a remedy or two for any discomforts you may be feeling from the Alta altitude.
Ezralea has been a massage therapist for more than 20 years and an esthetician for 15. In 2003, she began working for Wendy Allred in the Alta Day Spa and started to learn about the Alta community and experience. After a few years, she migrated to the other side of the mountain working in some of Park City’s finest spas including the famed Stein Eriksen Lodge.
In 2006, Ezralea was hiking in Alta with her best friend, Becky when Becky mentioned that Bill, the longtime Rustler Spa operator, had suddenly passed away. Ezralea’s immediate thought was that Becky should add the Rustler Spa to her collection of spas as she owned and operated the spa at Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge at the time. Becky, on the other hand, thought that it was an opportunity for Ezralea to take her career to the next level. Once Becky mentioned it, Ezralea realized it was a great idea.
Ezralea was named spa director of the Rustler Spa and worked closely with Becky over the years learning the ins and outs of running a spa in Alta. In 2010, Becky was ready for a life change and ready to sell the Goldminer’s Daughter Spa. Ezralea was once again up for the challenge and purchased the spa from Becky.
Taking her learnings from the Rustler Spa, she went in and stripped the spa adding her “EZ” touch. The end result was a refreshed décor and comfortable feeling while providing the same great service Lodge guests had come to expect.
The Goldminer’s Daughter Spa is open daily throughout the season from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and offers a full suite of spa services including massage, facials, body treatments, and waxing in three treatments rooms. Seated chair massage is available in the café. Ezralea’s passion aligns well with the Lodge’s passion for ensuring a great customer experience. In the spa, this is done by making sure the therapists have great hands and customer service skills. If you want an athletic massage, Ezralea wants to make sure you get an athletic massage.
The Goldminer’s Daughter Spa encourages and rewards advance reservations. Bookings made five days in advance are given a free add-on therapy. The 4 p.m .- 7 p.m. sessions book out first.
As Ezralea and I were finishing up our conversation, she shared a little bit about what keeps her in Alta particularly given the surprising fact that she doesn’t ski! She loves the beauty, the snow, the seasons, but most importantly it is the people. The guests, the employees, and the longtime locals are some of the most amazing individuals in the world. We couldn’t agree more.
