In August of 2016, we checked in with HR manager Charlie to learn more about hiring at Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge. Charlie talked a lot about guest satisfaction and how critical it is to the success of the lodge. It’s no secret we couldn’t provide the experience we do without dedicated, dependable employees. It may be a secret that not all of them come to work at the Lodge to ski. In fact, some don’t ski at all. You may be asking yourself why they work at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon at the base of the world’s greatest ski mountain if it isn’t for the skiing. We sat down with Housekeeping Assistant Manager Yesi to learn more.
Yesi was born in Tijuana, Mexica and raised in CA. When she was 12 years old, Yesi and her family moved to Utah. Yesi always wanted to work in hospitality, so after high school she got a degree in travel and tourism from Mountain West College. After college, she worked for Marriott hotels for five years. Following a brief hiatus to raise her children, Yesi was ready to reenter the workforce. When she heard about an opening at the Lodge, she didn’t hesitate to offer her services.
With Yesi’s background at one of the largest corporate hotels in the world and her degree in travel and tourism, we couldn’t have asked for a better candidate for the position.
When asked how the Lodge differs from the Marriott, Yesi explains that she loves the work environment at Goldminer’s. She loves how Jenn and Ross truly care about their employees and the direct interaction they give each employee. The seasonal schedule is a great fit for her family and allows her to spend time with her children in the summer months.
According to Yesi, potential employees at the Lodge won’t regret the decision spend a season (or more) at Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge. The Lodge provides an opportunity to grow in a career, and of course, the views are unbeatable.

Yesi doesn’t yet ski, but she hopes to learn and to teach her children as well. Until then, she’ll continue enjoying the views on her daily commute.
