Our employees are critical to your experience at Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge. We begin the hiring process before the previous season ends and spend the summer and fall rounding out the roster. Fortunately, we have a great group of repeat employees and recruit new employees each year that often meet and exceed our expectations.

Eddie Rice came to us last year with a lifetime of hospitality experience. His father had a lifelong career in the hospitality industry working for worldwide brands such as Hilton International and Intercontinental. In fact, Eddie grew up living in manager’s apartments in hotels across the globe. Every three or four years the family would transfer to another hotel in another country. During Eddie’s high school and college years, his family spent every vacation skiing. Once they found Alta, they started visiting once or twice a year. The Rice family, like many of you, had discovered their ski home.

As you can imagine, after graduating college the last place Eddie wanted to spend his career was in a hotel, so he put his English degree to work in New York City and spent 10 years as an editor and photo editor in the publishing world.

12 years ago, Eddie’s brother was working in Alta and convinced Eddie to spend a season. Eddie had had enough of the NYC lifestyle and decided to give it a shot. I think it’s safe to say he liked it. Eddie has fallen in love with the Alta community. He met his new wife in Alta and loves that while five months of the year can be pretty crazy; , he’s able to take time off to enjoy life each off-season. Eddie loves to travel and chooses to make Alta his home for the lifestyle it affords.

Eddie has worked at several of the Alta lodges, and last year joined our front desk team. We knew we had found an all-star employee when his resume came across our desk, and after a season as a front desk supervisor we offered Eddie a position as Assistant General Manager. Eddie looks forward to working with the various departments at the lodge and being involved in the daily operations. He is excited to interact closely with both lodge guests and day skiers as he shares his experience in the hospitality industry while at the same time learning from others.

Please join us as we welcome Eddie in his new role as Assistant General Manager at the Lodge. Eddie looks forward to getting to know each of you over the coming season and help make your stay more enjoyable.
